Variation Policy

Print E-mail

If you decide you wish to change an aspect of the design of your project throughout the refurbishment then all you have to do is ask. Conversely if we come across something that has to be changed (rotten timber for example) then we will raise this with you. The way we carry this out is called a variation order and for this we have a policy.

On a variation order form we first document the reason for the change and write a brief description of the work that will be carried out. We then seek your approval to prepare any associated change to the cost of your project as a result of the variation. We also document the impact this variation will have on your projects Programme.

Once we have an estimate for the cost impact we will offer you the option of having us carry out the variation on day-work or as a straight forward estimate. Day-work means we log the exact time and material used on a daily basis plus overhead and profit and then this is the amount you pay. An estimate however just means we will provide you with an estimate for the variation order and this is what you will pay.

Once you are happy with the cost of the variation order we again seek your signature before proceeding with the actual work. Every fortnight these variation orders get logged in to your Variation Order Register so you can see what changes have been made.
